About the position

As a Nuclear Operations Intern at NextEra Energy, you will be immersed in a dynamic and innovative environment at one of the largest producers of emission-free nuclear energy in the United States. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an operating two-unit nuclear power facility, where you will apply your engineering knowledge to real-world projects and challenges. Under direct supervision, you will engage in a variety of assignments that will enhance your understanding of engineering principles and practices. You will work closely with plant operations and maintenance personnel, conducting analyses on system performance and reliability strategies, and providing recommendations for improvements. This role is designed to help you develop your skills while contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our nuclear fleet. Throughout your internship, you will participate in engaging summer events and collaborate with other interns and employees on projects beyond your core work area. You will have the chance to apply standard engineering practices to specific situations, evaluate engineering problems, and prepare reports summarizing your findings and recommendations. Additionally, you will learn about safe work practices in industrial settings and gain knowledge of the operations of a nuclear power plant through team interactions and self-directed training. This internship is not just about individual projects; it’s about being part of a team that is committed to leading the industry in nuclear energy and technology.
