About the position

The Nuclear Procurement Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will be responsible for applying engineering principles to procure items and services for nuclear facilities. This role involves ensuring that procurement processes meet technical and quality requirements, collaborating with suppliers, and supporting operational readiness of systems. The position is part of a team that works a 4x10 schedule, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to nuclear innovation and research.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to the procurement of items and services for nuclear facilities.
  • Provide engineering support during design, analysis, procurement, fabrication, and installation.
  • Ensure procurement incorporates correct technical and quality requirements.
  • Understand supplier interfaces and processes to facilitate delivery of items and services.
  • Author procurement specifications and commercial grade dedication plans.
  • Participate in design and design reviews of systems, structures, and components.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designed items.
  • Work with multiple organizations in selecting and developing the appropriate procurement strategy.
  • Support procurement execution from award to acceptance of items and services.
  • Perform oversight activities such as surveys, source verification, and audits.
  • Support operating or maintenance activities of nuclear facilities to ensure conformity to design requirements.
  • Lead identification of conditions adverse to quality and develop corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution (Level 3).
  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years experience in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution (Level 4).
  • Experience managing supplier interfaces.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

  • Advanced degree in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
