About the position

The Nuclear Project Engineer position at US Tech Solutions focuses on utilizing design information to create testing, inspection, and acceptance criteria for parts and materials used across the enterprise. The role involves performing engineering evaluations to ensure that these components meet their required functions, thereby supporting the centralized test facility in providing assurance of performance upon installation.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes procurement methodology including developing Commercial Grade Dedication criteria.
  • Establishes reverse engineering requirements and provides a plan or methodology to collect measurements, conduct inspections and analysis for a variety of materials and components.
  • Establishes procurement engineering documents which result in accurate technical and quality information supporting proper procurement and cost savings where appropriate.
  • Establishes material safety classifications and quality levels by researching design and regulatory documents.
  • Maintains plant configuration utilizing or initiating appropriate change document (item equivalency or design change).
  • Provides consistency in application and standardization for procurement engineering evaluations/reviews including commercial grade dedications, material analysis, and reverse engineering (RE) of components.
  • Supports the mechanical engineering team in conducting mechanical tests, including component level and material testing.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of test plans.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, recommend effective solutions, and document findings.
  • Participates in test result analysis and provides recommendations for process improvements or modifications.
  • Documents test procedures, specifications, and analysis reports in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Stays updated on the latest advancements in mechanical testing methodologies and equipment.
  • Supports the corrective action program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstration of proficiency in automated purchasing and materials management computer systems.
  • Direct experience in the mechanical discipline is preferred.
  • Cross-discipline experience (Seismic, Civil/ Structural, Equipment Qualification, Projects Engineering) is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior attendance at the EPRI Nuclear Utility Procurement Training is a plus.
