About the position

The Nuclear Worker position is a temporary role designed for students currently enrolled at Williamson College of the Trades or Salem Community College, specifically in NET program majors. This position involves performing various support activities in the Nuclear Department, focusing on the preservation and maintenance of buildings, structures, and equipment. The role is expected to last 10-12 weeks and requires adherence to safety policies and procedures while working in potentially contaminated areas.

Responsibilities

  • Learn functions of positions in Maintenance and Operations departments including performance of basic support activities which do not require task-specific training or qualifications.
  • Perform plant tours and inspections with qualified nuclear personnel.
  • Perform basic technical writing and document reviews.
  • Set up temporary safety barriers and protective screening around work areas.
  • Transport and stage equipment in support of work by qualified personnel.
  • Assist Nuclear Departments where unskilled labor is required.
  • Maintain shop and work location in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Perform less skilled work as needed.
  • Follow the company's safety policy and procedures while performing job duties.
  • Wear personal protection equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must meet the Company's 'General Requirements', as defined in the Union handbook.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow simple instructions and carry out routine assignments.
  • Aptitude for mechanical work and keen faculties of observation.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
