The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) position at Einstein Montgomery Campus is a per diem role within a 140-bed hospital located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The CRNA will work in collaboration with attending anesthesiologists to provide comprehensive care to patients, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in anesthesia practices. The primary function of the CRNA is to deliver anesthesia care, which includes pre-anesthetic preparation, intraoperative management, and post-operative care. The CRNA will be responsible for administering various types of anesthesia, including general, spinal, epidural, caudal, and nerve block anesthesia. This role requires a thorough understanding of patient physiology and the ability to monitor and adjust anesthesia levels based on individual patient needs. The CRNA will also be involved in the transfer of care post-operatively, ensuring continuity and safety for patients as they regain control of their vital functions. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the CRNA will participate in departmental initiatives, attend conferences, and contribute to the overall goals of the anesthesia department. The position requires effective communication with the care team and a commitment to patient satisfaction and quality care. The CRNA will also be expected to maintain invasive monitoring equipment and participate in call requirements as needed, demonstrating flexibility in response to departmental needs. Responsibilities

  • Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation.
  • Provides intraoperative general anesthesia care in collaboration with attending Anesthesiologist.
  • Participates in the induction of general anesthesia and maintenance of anesthetics at required levels.
  • Implements, monitors and adjusts patient’s physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient needs.
  • Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Provides professional and resuscitative care until the patient has regained control of his/her vital functions.
  • Administers spinal, epidural, caudal and nerve block anesthesia.
  • Supports departmental and operating room procedures in the promotion of patient satisfaction and quality.
  • Participates in additional areas of responsibility, which are within the expertise of the individual CRNA.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered professional nurse with a completed nurse anesthesia program approved by the Council on Accreditation Programs.
  • Must have passed the certification examination administered by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with attending anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia practices and patient care protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare team members.
