About the position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is an advanced practice registered nurse responsible for providing anesthesia services in a collaborative care team. This role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based anesthesia to patients across various acuity levels and settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the anesthesia process.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of patients.
• Reviews, requests, and orders laboratory and diagnostic studies.
• Obtains informed consent for anesthesia and related services.
• Develops and implements anesthesia care plans.
• Selects, orders, and administers preanesthetic medication or treatment, invasive and non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for sedation, anesthesia, and pain management services.
• Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response and administering necessary medications and fluids.
• Initiates and administers post-anesthesia pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system.
• Provides post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.
• Evaluates the patient's response to anesthesia and surgery, taking appropriate corrective action during the post-anesthesia period.
• Discharges the patient from the post-anesthesia care unit.
• Implements acute and chronic pain management modalities.
• Manages emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing airway management and administering emergency drugs.

Requirements

• Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia by date of hire.
• Current CRNA license or CRNA Licensure by date of hire.
• Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists by date of hire.
• Accountability and high-level problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• At least one (1) year of CRNA experience preferably in a Tertiary care hospital.
