About the position

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) serves as a first-level manager in the absence of the Nurse Manager, enhancing the development and implementation of the Primary Care's Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Program. This role involves collaboration with site leadership and Primary Care Leadership to fulfill the mission and vision of the Medical Center, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
  • Promotes an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organization's vision and mission.
  • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Works closely with the Nurse Manager to develop skills that demonstrate leadership and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.
  • Responsible for the documented outcomes at the clinic or service level.
  • Makes daily assignments and adjustments based on the workload and covers unexpected absences in nursing staff, providing direct patient care when needed at least 50% of the time.
  • Works with training and development to improve all performance metrics.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the performance improvement process in Primary Care.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduates of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • English Language Proficiency.
