About the position

This position is located in the Primary Care Behavioral Health Program, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.69% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Behavioral Health Care Facilitator by performing independent, comprehensive telephone and clinical triaging in the primary care setting, supporting primary care providers in their treatment of patients with behavioral health conditions.
• Facilitate continuity of care through a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety disorders in adult beneficiaries.
• Monitor patient progress and symptom severity by conducting a structured telephonic interview and using validated tools.
• Provide patient education as an integral part of the services offered (e.g. medication education, alcohol effects on mood, etc.).
• Collaborate with patients to develop self-management goals to assist patients with symptom improvement.
• Communicate with providers regarding patient status, and document appropriately in the electronic medical record.
• Communicate with Behavioral Health Consultants (EBHC) on a weekly basis to review patients that require staffing.
• Assist clinic with patient and staff education, clinic meetings, and performance improvement activities.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds is required.
