About the position

This position is located at Army Community Hospital Bayne, Public Health Nursing Service in Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Advanced in hire authorized may be authorized. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, conducts, and evaluates epidemiology and disease surveillance programs.
  • Develops and provides educational and consultant services to a variety of target groups.
  • Provides counseling and education on health and transmission aspects of these infections.
  • Educational, patient management, and assessment services require extensive coordination with other agencies.
  • Provides additional training for childcare workers that are necessary to meet special needs of a child.
  • Administers and interprets Army Regulation (AR) 608-10 and interim guidance on the health requirements for staff and participants, and sanitation of facilities.
  • Serves as health consultant to the Child Development Center and Youth Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Heavy lifting up to 45 pounds may be required.
