The Nurse Educator on the Med/Surg 8th floor in Utica, NY, is responsible for assessing the educational needs of nursing staff and students, planning and delivering orientation and continuing education programs to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes. Responsibilities

• Assess the educational needs of nursing staff and students.
• Plan and deliver orientation and continuing education programs.
• Mentor staff and monitor clinical competencies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop individualized employee improvement plans.
• Participate in committees to promote evidence-based care.
• Conduct classes and provide individualized instruction.
• Develop objectives and course outlines for unit in-service programs.
• Document progress and competency per policy and address issues in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
• Investigate problems of nursing practice and stay current with the latest research.
• Provide direct patient care to select patients.

Requirements

• BSN required.
• Minimum 2 years in area of specialty required.
• Valid and unrestricted NY State nursing license required.
• Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Certification in area of specialty preferred.
