About the position

The Nurse Extern position at St. David's HealthCare offers an exciting opportunity for nursing students to gain practical experience in a hospital setting. This role is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program, allowing them to build confidence in their nursing skills, improve their knowledge base, and network with healthcare professionals prior to graduation. The position requires a minimum commitment of two 12-hour shifts per month and offers flexible scheduling to accommodate classes and clinicals.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.
• Engage in flexible scheduling to balance classes and clinicals.
• Build confidence in nursing skills through hands-on experience.
• Improve overall knowledge base in a hospital setting.
• Network with hospital and nursing leaders prior to graduation.
• Prepare for RN residency positions through early interviews.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing (Registered Nurse or LVN degree).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
