About the position

The Nurse Extern General Surgery position at Wesley Medical Center is designed for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited RN program. This role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision of registered nurses, participating in the implementation of nursing care plans, and assisting with various patient care activities. Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
• Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assist nursing staff in providing patient care according to the Nurse Extern's skills and training.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
• Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs and other health metrics.
• Actively participate as a member of the healthcare team and promote collaboration with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN school of nursing.
• Completion of Foundations/Fundamentals course is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
