About the position
The Nurse Extern II position at Froedtert Menomonee Falls ICU is designed for Spring 2025 graduating nursing students. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the extern provides routine care and assists patients with daily living activities. The role is responsible to the Patient Care Director and the RN's on duty, with additional duties assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Support the nursing staff in various tasks as assigned.
- Document patient care and assist in maintaining medical records.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing or a graduate waiting to retake the NCLEX exam.
- Minimum of two acute care medical-surgical clinical rotations or equivalent experience required.
- At least one clinical rotation must include medication administration.
- Ability to perform basic patient care tasks and follow directions.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience of six months or more as a nursing assistant is preferred.
