About the position
The Nurse Extern PRN Cardiac Care position at HCA HealthONE Aurora is designed for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited RN program. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cardiac care setting while supporting patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. The position emphasizes the importance of patient experience and integrity in healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff in providing patient care in the cardiac unit.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Support patients with daily activities and ensure their comfort and safety.
- Participate in patient education and support initiatives as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN school of nursing.
- Completion of Foundations/Fundamentals course required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required, or Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
