About the position
The Nurse Extern PRN in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at TriStar Skyline Medical Center is a vital role that supports the nursing staff by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This position is designed for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and allows them to gain practical experience while assisting with basic patient care services under the supervision of registered nurses. The Nurse Extern will contribute to maintaining a safe and organized patient care environment and will have the opportunity to perform higher-level procedures as they achieve competency.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing basic patient care services.
- Assist nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with skills and training.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
- Communicate pertinent information to appropriate individuals.
- Document patient care information accurately in the appropriate systems.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) for assigned patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program.
- Completion of the first nursing semester or CNA in the first semester of the RN program is required.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
