About the position
The Nurse Extern PRN in PCU at HCA Healthcare is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision of registered nurses. This role involves performing basic patient care services, assisting nursing staff, and maintaining a safe and organized patient care environment. The position is designed for nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have completed their first semester.
Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff in providing patient care according to the Nurse Extern's skills and training.
- Document patient assessments and findings, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Support and protect patient rights, treating each patient with dignity and maintaining confidentiality.
- Commit to patient safety initiatives, including fall prevention and reporting changes in patient conditions.
- Provide appropriate patient and family education as per department and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific care.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing.
- Completion of the first semester of a nursing program (ASN, BSN).
