About the position

The Nurse Manager for the Liver Transplant Program at UVA Medical Center plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of patient care areas, ensuring high-quality nursing care for both adult and pediatric transplant patients. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their transplant journey, from evaluation to post-transplant care. The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and the management of nursing staff, contributing to a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of assigned patient care areas in the provision of nursing care to patients and their families.
  • Supervise all nursing and support staff, including Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Technicians.
  • Support day-to-day operations of the patient care area.
  • Direct activities of patient care and support staff as a transformation leader.
  • Ensure seamless care for adult and pediatric transplant patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master's degree in a related field within 5 years of hire.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment (5 years preferred).
  • License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's license required for managers with responsibility operations in multiple locations.
