About the position
The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery at Medical City Dallas is responsible for overseeing all departmental functions to support the hospital's mission and goals. This role involves managing resources effectively, establishing relationships with various stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit. The manager will also maintain clinical competencies to assist during high census periods or staffing shortages.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all departmental functions in support of hospital mission and goals.
- Identify cost-effective systems to support departmental business.
- Establish effective working relationships with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.
- Manage fiscal and human resource allocation based on guidelines.
- Develop plans of care based on RN assessments and re-assessments.
- Maintain requirements to function as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Five years of management experience, including personnel, payroll, budgets, and business planning.
- Labor and Delivery experience required.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NRP certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Course within 1 year of hire.
