About the position

The Nurse Manager of Trauma Program at HCA Healthcare is responsible for overseeing the trauma program at Medical City Las Colinas. This role involves leadership in trauma care, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and promoting quality patient outcomes through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The manager will also focus on performance improvement, staff education, and community outreach related to trauma care.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers, and other departments.
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of staff and patients.
  • Oversees implementation of The Joint Commission trauma guidelines.
  • Co-chairs the multidisciplinary trauma team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Chair of the multidisciplinary trauma committee and other physicians.
  • Assesses the needs for policies, procedures, protocols, supplies, and equipment relating to trauma patient care.
  • Assists the Trauma Medical Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating a quality and process improvement plan.
  • Serves as the coordinator for the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up of incidents and quality issues.
  • Stays current in trauma patient care guidelines and maintains at least 8 hours of trauma CNE annually.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and integrity of the trauma program.
  • Conducts ongoing trauma data analysis and works with the Emergency Service Line Leader to meet financial goals.
  • Facilitates cost-containment and educates nursing staff in trauma patient care.
  • Collaborates with the Emergency Service Line Leader and Quality to promote strategic goals.
  • Conducts routine rounds on nurses to assure continuity of care, satisfaction, and communication.
  • Functions as a facilitator for nursing excellence and participates in health promotions and educational community involvement.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements orientation and in-service programs related to trauma care.
  • Directs community trauma education and prevention programs.
  • Attends county and state-wide meetings pertinent to EMS and trauma care.
  • Supervises the collecting, coding, scoring, and validation of data entered into the Trauma registry.
  • Acts as an extended liaison for Emergency Medical Service agencies and the community.
  • Participates in the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council and the Governor's EMS & Trauma Advisory Council meetings.

Requirements

  • TX RN License or RN Compact State License.
  • BLS (AHA) certification.
  • ACLS (AHA) certification.
  • ENPC OR PALS (AHA) certification.
  • BSN required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in trauma/emergency care.

Nice-to-haves

  • CEN certification preferred.
  • Membership in professional organizations such as ENA, AACN, AORN preferred.
