About the position

The Nurse Manager of Off-Shift Operations serves as the nursing leader on site during their shift, responsible for patient placement and coordinating admissions and transfers in accordance with clinical standards. This role involves supervising nursing personnel and overseeing patient care activities across the hospital campus, while collaborating with other Nurse Managers at affiliated hospitals. The position requires effective communication and management skills to address concerns and ensure smooth operations during off-shift and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of nursing department personnel during off-shift hours.
  • Oversee patient care activities throughout the hospital campus.
  • Coordinate patient placement and manage admissions and transfers according to clinical standards.
  • Interpret department policies and procedures and address concerns from patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Generate reports to ensure appropriate communication regarding patient care and departmental operations.
  • Respond to critical care situations and manage patient flow effectively.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of clinical experience in a specific area of nursing practice.
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive management experience in nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • IV certification competency.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
