About the position

The Nurse Manager for the Primary Care Community Based Outpatient Clinic is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 operations of the clinic, ensuring high-quality nursing care and patient satisfaction. This role involves managing staff, implementing quality improvement initiatives, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance care outcomes. The Nurse Manager also plays a key role in staff development, performance evaluations, and maintaining accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Influence care outcomes by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Manage unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives.
  • Ensure timely nursing care that complies with accepted standards of clinical practice.
  • Plan work for subordinates, set priorities, and prepare schedules.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and capabilities.
  • Evaluate the performance of subordinates and make recommendations for appointments or advancements.
  • Provide advice and counsel to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters.
  • Resolve complaints of subordinates and refer serious complaints to higher-level supervisors.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of subordinates and provide necessary training.
  • Maintain continuous accreditation readiness of the area of practice.
  • Develop and manage collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians.
  • Ensure staffing meets established nursing hours per patient day requirements.
  • Mentor staff and address employee conduct and performance issues.
  • Participate on service and medical center committees to improve nursing practice and patient care.

Requirements

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by an appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related field.
  • National certification in Nursing Administration and/or Ambulatory Care Nursing.
  • Recent Primary Care/PACT first-line nurse management experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma training.
  • 2-3 years of emergency leadership experience.
