About the position

The Nurse Manager at Bethany Lutheran Home is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring high-quality care for residents. This role involves coordinating clinical and support services, managing staff training and development, and maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. The Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in assessing residents' needs and implementing care plans to enhance their independence and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in supervising neighborhood employees and ensuring adequate staffing.
• Ensure orientation, training, and continuing education of all neighborhood employees.
• Promote individual and team growth, quality outcomes, compliance with regulations, and adherence to Bethany Home policies and procedures.
• Assist the DON in conducting regular performance appraisals with neighborhood employees.
• Establish and maintain open and effective communication with residents, families, employees, physicians, referral sources, and other management team members.
• Assess residents' functional status and their social, psychological, and spiritual needs on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure that care plans are completed and that services and support are arranged to meet residents' needs.
• Refer residents to community-based services and medical services as necessary.
• Implement approaches and services to maintain or enhance resident independence.
• Supervise the nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure adequate staffing levels.
• Facilitate training and continuing education for all employees, promoting individual and team growth.
• Develop and update care plans to meet resident changes and choices.
• Implement and oversee clinical policies and procedures to ensure safe, sanitary, and efficient practices.

Requirements

• Active RN license in South Dakota.
• Proven experience in a supervisory role in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of nursing home regulations and compliance.
