About the position

The Nurse Manager for Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders Unit at the New Mexico VA Health Care System is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 operations of the unit, ensuring high standards of nursing care and patient satisfaction. This role includes supervisory authority, performance improvement, staff management, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to provide veteran-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the 24/7 operations of the Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders Unit.
• Ensure timely nursing care that complies with clinical practice standards.
• Manage staffing and scheduling to support continuous patient care.
• Conduct performance improvement initiatives and enhance patient satisfaction.
• Participate in committees and task forces to improve nursing practice.
• Orient new staff and support student nurse clinical experiences.
• Address employee conduct and performance issues.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
