The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered Nurse Manager to support our Walk-In UI Community Clinics in partnership with another Nurse Manager. This includes overseeing four Quickcare locations, five Urgent Care locations, two Occupational Health clinics, and one Sports Medicine Clinic. The Nurse Manager will provide managerial and clinical nursing leadership for ambulatory clinic services under the direction of the Associate Director, ensuring that all staff deliver safe clinical care and have the necessary education, methods, and resources to meet performance objectives. This role typically involves limited direct patient care, focusing instead on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving healthcare operations. The Nurse Manager will travel between clinics to provide ongoing support and leadership. Key responsibilities include human resources management, where the Nurse Manager will make effective recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions. They will manage the talents and strengths of a diverse workgroup, actively seeking staff participation in decision-making and customer service improvement activities. The Nurse Manager will also be responsible for financial management, monitoring the unit's operating budget, developing staffing plans, and ensuring fiscal goals are met. Additionally, they will provide leadership in operations, standards of care, regulatory compliance, and quality patient satisfaction, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and compliance with established standards of care. The Nurse Manager will also be involved in planning and goal management, interpreting and implementing goals articulated in the institutional strategic plan, and using customer feedback to enhance service delivery. Communication and collaboration are essential, as the Nurse Manager will design innovative care models and facilitate multidisciplinary participation in clinical problem identification and resolution. Education programs will be a focus, with the Nurse Manager coaching staff in standards of care and promoting professional development. Finally, the Nurse Manager will support research administration by implementing evidence-based practices in nursing care.
