About the position

The Nurse Practitioner/Adult Physician Assistant in Primary Care at UMass Memorial Health is responsible for conducting comprehensive health assessments and managing both acute and chronic illnesses. This role emphasizes a high level of autonomy and expert skill in diagnosing and treating health issues, while also integrating education, research, and leadership into clinical practice. The position requires collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and wellness promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and evaluations.
  • Secure health histories from patients and/or families and document findings.
  • Perform complete in-depth physical examinations.
  • Order and perform pertinent diagnostic tests based on patient age and history.
  • Analyze collected data to determine health status and identify differential diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with physicians to formulate and manage patient care plans.
  • Manage therapeutic regimes for patients with acute illnesses according to established protocols.
  • Reassess and modify care plans as necessary to achieve health goals.
  • Document patient care outcomes and communicate them with physicians.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Valid Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration.
  • Federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration.
