About the position

The Nurse Practitioner in Allergy/Immunology at NYC Health + Hospitals is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients with allergic conditions and immunologic disorders. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The Nurse Practitioner will also focus on patient education and self-management to optimize health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides continuous comprehensive medical and nursing care, including preventive and supportive health care services to patients and families.
  • Manages health problems and coordinates health care for various patient populations.
  • Identifies and diagnoses illnesses and physical conditions, and implements therapeutic and corrective measures.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with community-based organizations and makes referrals to consulting physicians and/or other health care professionals and community agencies, as necessary.
  • Evaluates and interprets patient data to plan and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Consults with physicians and other health care practitioners in the evaluation of health screening findings.
  • Formulates differential diagnosis and the plan of care based on medical history, physical exams, nursing assessment, and other pertinent information.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates patient plan of care, modifying as needed to achieve medical and health goals.
  • Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, identifying appropriate interventions and therapies.
  • Manages a patient session schedule allowing for both scheduled and non-emergent unscheduled visits.
  • Provides education, guidance, and direction to nursing staff and other members of the health care team.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients and families regarding health status, treatment, and progress.

Requirements

  • A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED.
  • Valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
