About the position

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner specializing in Behavioral Health to join their outpatient clinic team in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. This role involves providing independent medical care, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive behavioral health services to patients aged 18 and up. The position offers a flexible work schedule and a competitive salary based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients.
  • Implement treatment and evaluate patient progress within the scope of practice protocols.
  • Write appropriate medical orders, including prescriptions for controlled substances.
  • Perform non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Conduct patient history and physical exams, documenting findings accurately.
  • Notify supervising physician of any unusual events or problems requiring consultation.
  • Practice safety and infection control methods in the clinical setting.
  • Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to provide comprehensive care.
  • Guide and support nursing and medical staff, serving as a resource.
  • Document patient care accurately in medical records and communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Provide health education to patients and families, and may supervise medical residents.
  • Act as a role model in conduct, communication, and ethical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nursing Accredited Program Graduate.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner License with a focus in Psychiatric - Mental Health.
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • ACLS or PALS Certification (if applicable) within 30 days of hire.
  • Prescriptive Authority from the State of New Mexico.
  • Federal DEA Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of related experience in specialty areas preferred.
