There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The position involves making daily rounds independently or with a surgical team on patients post cardiac surgery and reporting findings to the attending surgeon. The role requires managing and implementing care plans as directed by the attending surgeon, both in conjunction with the surgeon and autonomously. The individual will direct and oversee other members of the surgical care team to facilitate post and pre-operative cardiac surgical care. Responsibilities include managing hemodynamics along with vasoactive medications, post-operative drain management and removal, chest tube insertion, and knowledge and management of intra-aortic balloon pumps. There is a strong emphasis on post-operative wound management and procedures necessary for the care of critically ill cardiac surgery patients, including the insertion of central lines and thoracentesis. The provider will maintain patient care with ongoing re-assessments to evaluate changes in patient status, write orders, interpret tests and imaging, and obtain consultations when needed. The role provides a continuum of care from pre-operative care through critical care to discharge planning, including daily progress notes, history and physical consult notes, and discharge summaries. The advance practice provider is a leadership position that requires the ability to oversee a patient's care plan, work autonomously, and direct other members of the care team as directed by the attending surgeon. Attendance at surgical staff meetings, grand rounds, and morbidity and mortality conferences is required. The provider must maintain and enhance their skills and clinical knowledge by attending internal and external educational meetings and keeping current with appropriate professional journals and literature. The position requires the ability to work rotating days, nights, and weekends, and perform other work-related duties as requested or directed. Consistent service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers is expected, reflecting Cape Cod Hospital's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.
