About the position

The Nurse Practitioner will manage and coordinate overnight care in the ICU for Cardiac Thoracic post-surgery patients, working from 7 PM to 7 AM on a 7 on, 7 off schedule. This role requires proficiency in handling high-acuity patients and maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team. The Nurse Practitioner will work in a critical care environment that includes mechanical circulatory support and will be responsible for various advanced medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate overnight care in the ICU for Cardiac Thoracic post-surgery patients.
• Prioritize care based on each patient's needs.
• Maintain open communication with all staff members.
• Model a collaborative and professional relationship with the healthcare team.
• Perform advanced medical procedures such as Chest Tube Placement, Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, Central Line placement and management, A-lines, Swans, IABP management, CRRT management, and Ventilator management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing.
• Currently licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of employment.
• Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• ICU critical care experience.
• Two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
