About the position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) position at Wellpath involves providing medical care and treatment to the inmate population, focusing on underserved and vulnerable patients. The NP will conduct assessments, develop care plans, and ensure compliance with applicable laws while making a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily sick calls and follow standardized procedures and protocols.
• Provide emergency care for identified medical emergencies and coordinate patient transfers to appropriate facilities.
• Perform minor surgical procedures, repair lacerations, and remove sutures.
• Treat and manage non-psychotic behavioral health disorders and provide ongoing care for patients on maintenance doses of non-psychotic medications.
• Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities, document findings using the S.O.A.P.E. method, and attend quarterly Quality Management meetings.

Requirements

• Completion of a master's program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs.
• Previous correctional/detention facility experience.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience.
• Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA.
