About the position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) position at Midwest Pain Management involves evaluating and treating patients in a comprehensive pain management clinic. This role allows for the development of an independent patient practice with regular collaboration with physicians, focusing on procedural and operative pain management. The successful candidate will manage medications, coordinate care, and perform procedures, contributing to expanding patient access to specialty medical care in a rural area.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new and established patients for pain management.
  • Develop an independent patient practice with physician collaboration.
  • Manage medications and recommend ancillary care such as physical therapy.
  • Order urine drug screens and radiographic studies.
  • Determine suitability for operative and interventional pain therapies.
  • Safely prescribe controlled substances and monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Perform procedures such as trigger point and joint injections with training.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members and referring providers.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program approved by the WI Medical Examining Board.
  • Board certification/eligible if required by the applicant's degree granting governing body.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
