About the position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Primary Care at Baylor Scott & White Health is a licensed and certified healthcare provider responsible for delivering direct patient care. This role involves assessing patients, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments, and collaborating with physicians to develop comprehensive treatment plans. The NP operates within the scope of practice defined by the supervising physician and provides care in various settings, including internal medicine and family medicine clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient health needs.
  • Prescribe medical therapies and perform procedures in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Formulate and implement patient treatment plans based on assessments and evidence-based medicine.
  • Evaluate patient responses to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, health management, and nutrition.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Initiate timely consultations and referrals when necessary.
  • Provide consultation services for conditions related to the provider's specialty.
  • Perform invasive procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.

Requirements

  • Current Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a participating state.
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in laboratory procedures.
  • Supervising experience in a healthcare setting.
