About the position

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Hospitalist position involves providing comprehensive care to new and established patients in collaboration with physicians. The role emphasizes autonomy in patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care, while ensuring adherence to medical protocols and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Make accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and consult as appropriate.
  • Prescribe, adjust, or discontinue medications or therapies as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and report significant health risks to the collaborating physician.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of practice of the physician assistant license.
  • Communicate effectively with the collaborative physician, patients, and referring staff.
  • Provide safe, ethical care and health education to patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant (Required).
  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant (Preferred).
  • Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
