About the position

Founded in 2007, The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation (TOI) is advancing oncology by delivering highly specialized, value-based cancer care in the community setting. TOI is dedicated to offering cutting edge, evidence-based cancer care to a population of more than 1.7 million patients including clinical trials, stem cell transplants, transfusions, and other care delivery models traditionally associated with the most advanced care delivery organizations. The Advanced Practice Provider Role involves performing physical examinations and treating common complications of cancer treatment, counseling patients and families, and monitoring patient progress. The role requires collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, while retaining responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-up, phone calls, and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family, construct comprehensive medical histories, perform initial and periodic physical examinations, and explore patient's interpretation of health needs.
  • Identify and treat patients' diseases.
  • Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results.
  • Develop and implement long and short-range treatment plans.
  • Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsy.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
  • Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and countersigning by physician.
  • Identify and record pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarizing charts, changing orders when appropriate, and notifying the responsible physician of changes in the patient's condition.
  • Will need hospital privileges to assist with call.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Possession of current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice
  • National Certification required upon employment (Nurse Practitioners)

Nice-to-haves

  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Bilingual in English and a Chinese dialect (Cantonese, Mandarin) preferred but not required.

  • Pay Transparency for salaried teammates: $120,000-$140,800 USD
