About the position

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position at Riley Hospital for Children is a full-time role focused on providing patient-centered care in a fast-paced pediatric surgical environment. The role involves working collaboratively with a team of surgeons and trainees to manage a diverse patient population, primarily in inpatient settings, with a strong emphasis on trauma and general surgery for children from newborns to age 18.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Pediatric General Surgeons and resident/fellow trainees to provide care to surgical and trauma patients.
• Act as the first line of communication for nursing and other service lines during night shifts.
• Respond to consultation requests, floor concerns, and post-operative follow-ups as needed overnight.
• Perform inpatient and bedside procedures as necessary.
• Conduct inpatient rounding and cross-coverage for Pediatric General Surgery and trauma patients.
• Participate in trauma alerts and Trauma one responses.

Requirements

• FNP, PNP, or PA certification required.
• 3-5 years of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) experience working with pediatric patients required.
• Experience with pediatric general surgery and trauma populations preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
