About the position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role at Wellpath is a part-time position focused on providing comprehensive medical services to incarcerated patients. Under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other physicians, the NP will conduct routine and emergency medical care, ensuring adherence to established policies and state guidelines. This position emphasizes compassion and collaboration in delivering quality care to vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and emergency medical care for inmates, including chronic care clinics and emergency treatment on-site.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures for medical care, including documentation in SOAP format.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, reporting any concerns to the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals.
• Provide input into facility mandatory committees as requested.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment.
• Current CPR certification.
• Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience, preferably in corrections.
