About the position

The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant position in the Genitourinary Surgical Oncology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center involves providing patient care in both outpatient and operating room settings. This role supports Urologic Oncology Surgeons and contributes to the mission of cancer prevention and treatment. The ideal candidate will be a clinical professional passionate about delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating with specialists to optimize patient care.
  • Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
  • Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within scope of practice.
  • Performs medical exams and admits patients to the surgical services of the GU Program.
  • Responds to inpatient consult requests for the GU specialty, assessing patients and escalating as necessary.
  • Performs minor surgical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
  • Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
  • Assists in the OR in lieu of or in addition to a Surgical Resident or Fellow, including bedside assistance in robotic, laparoscopic, and open cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
  • Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Experience in surgery/OR, oncology, or general internal medicine; experience specific to the specialty preferred.
  • Experience as a First Assist/Bedside Assist in the OR preferred; Robotic Experience a plus; RNFA Certification a plus (if APRN).

Nice-to-haves

  • RNFA experience (APRN) or OR/surgical experience (PA).
