About the position

As a member of DispatchHealth's Transition to Practice Fall 2024 Program Cohort, you will engage in a transformative experience designed to bridge your academic training with practical, hands-on patient care. This intensive nine-month program is tailored for recent graduates from accredited institutions who are ready to apply their skills as Family Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants. Throughout the program, you will collaborate with fellow program participants from across the country, gaining invaluable insights and support as you transition into independent practice. The program begins with a comprehensive orientation that introduces you to DispatchHealth's innovative care delivery models and organizational culture. You will participate in rigorous classroom didactic sessions and skills training, complemented by one-on-one mentorship from seasoned providers. This mentorship will guide you in caring for acutely ill patients, ensuring you receive personalized feedback and coaching. The curriculum covers a wide range of critical topics, including the assessment and management of acute patients, shock and sepsis, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal and genitourinary complaints, pediatric evaluations, and the recognition of neurologic emergencies. In addition to clinical training, you will also learn best practices for documentation, engage in virtual case studies, and receive ongoing feedback to enhance your clinical skills. This program is not just about learning; it is about transforming healthcare delivery and making a meaningful impact on patient lives. As you progress, you will be equipped with the knowledge and experience necessary to excel in your role and contribute to DispatchHealth's mission of delivering trusted, compassionate care in the comfort of home.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in intensive classroom didactic and skills sessions.
  • Receive one-on-one in-person training while caring for patients.
  • Learn documentation best practices and receive coaching and mentoring.
  • Engage in virtual case study work with cohort colleagues.
  • Assess and manage acute patients under the guidance of seasoned providers.
  • Complete required drivers training upon hire.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate with an advanced degree from an accredited institution or less than 1 year of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current unrestricted state license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current nationally board certification.
  • Current BLS required, ACLS certification preferred.
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA (CSR and DEA state specific requirements).
  • Two or more years' experience as a paramedic, RN (ED or ICU), Flight Nurse preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs easily.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
  • Familiarity with mobile healthcare delivery models.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
