The Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist position at Marymount Hospital involves joining a dynamic surgical team to provide advanced medical care across various surgical specialties. The role includes surgical assisting, patient evaluations, and collaboration with physicians to ensure high-quality patient care. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations.
  • Initiate appropriate lab, radiology tests, or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Assist surgeons in conducting operations and perform evaluation and therapeutic procedures in life-threatening situations.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
  • Perform specialized procedures including bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, and spinal taps.
  • Educate patients regarding their disease, treatments, and preventive health maintenance topics.
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or specialized health resources.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patients and the multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Participate in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
  • May serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students and other health professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in applicable state(s).
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required based on work setting.
  • Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program.
