The Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in Surgical Operations I will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality medical care in collaboration with physicians. This position is located at the Beachwood Family Health Surgery Center and operates on a day shift schedule from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operating room or as a First Assist, and will be responsible for providing primary and specialty care in various healthcare settings. The role emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of acute and chronic health issues. As a licensed healthcare provider, the selected candidate will conduct thorough medical histories, perform complete physical examinations, and initiate necessary lab and radiology tests. They will interpret diagnostic procedures, perform routine medical procedures, and may prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations. The position requires collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and continuity of care. The Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist will also participate in medical team rounds, educate patients about their health conditions, and assist in discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role may involve serving as a clinical preceptor for students and new employees, participating in quality monitoring, and conducting research follow-up studies. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations.
  • Initiate appropriate lab, radiology tests, or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Scrutinize lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status.
  • Develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan for patients.
  • Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Assist in the management of complex illnesses and injuries, including assisting surgeons in operations.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
  • Perform specialized procedures, including bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, and spinal taps.
  • Provide information and answer routine questions of patients regarding their disease and preventive health maintenance topics.
  • Educate patients regarding their disease, treatments, and related drug side effects.
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or specialized health resources.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patients and other members of the care team.
  • Assist in data analysis and participate in quality monitoring for patient outcomes.
  • Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students and other health professionals.

Requirements

  • Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider (APRN, PA, or CNS) with appropriate state licensure.
  • Graduate of an accredited APRN program or A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required based on work setting.
  • Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with state regulations.
  • Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
