About the position
The Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry will collaborate with physicians to provide comprehensive care to new and established patients. This role emphasizes autonomy in patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care, while ensuring adherence to the scope of practice. The position involves ordering tests, interpreting results, and prescribing medications, all within a supportive clinical environment focused on patient advocacy and education.
Responsibilities
- Assess and establish presumptive diagnoses for patients in child and adolescent or adult psychiatry.
- Implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practice.
- Make accurate entries into the electronic medical record and order diagnostic testing as needed.
- Prescribe, adjust, or discontinue medications or therapies appropriately.
- Evaluate and report significant health risks to the collaborating physician.
- Perform procedures within the scope of the nurse practitioner license.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and referring staff.
- Provide safe, ethical care and health education to patients and their families.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
- Certified Nurse Practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
- Basic Life Support Certification
