About the position
The position involves working in collaboration with a Pain Management Physician and staff to provide care to patients in an outpatient setting, adhering to the scope of practice for a nurse practitioner. Responsibilities include documenting assessments, evaluations, and consultation reports for Pain Management patients, performing privileged procedures, and engaging in strategic problem-solving and effective communication. Responsibilities
- Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews, assessing presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situation, and performing appropriate physical exams.
- Perform scheduled peer-to-peer consultations with insurance payers during non-patient care moments.
- Order appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests, seeking additional information as needed, including consultation and coordination with physicians and clinicians for evaluation of care.
- Follow up on obtaining lab and diagnostic results and notify the collaborative physician of any significant results.
- Educate patients regarding balanced treatment options.
- Develop care plans for opioid therapy in accordance with state and federal opioid prescribing guidelines and collaborative agreements with pain management providers.
- Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care.
Requirements
- Current Indiana nursing license with renewal required.
- A Master of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
- Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and patient care management.
- Maintain CCU's for certification renewal.
