About the position

The Nurse Practitioner at the Walk-In Clinic is responsible for examining and treating patients independently while collaborating with other healthcare professionals. This role emphasizes patient care, diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention, ensuring high standards of practice are maintained. The Nurse Practitioner operates under minimal supervision and may lead other healthcare staff within their scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and document teaching and learning needs accurately.
• Formulate appropriate diagnoses and order necessary therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Implement treatment plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams regarding patient assessments.
• Reassess and modify care plans based on physiological and psychosocial findings.
• Order tests and consults as required, reviewing test results consistently.
• Provide education to patients based on identified risk factors and evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs.
• Document all patient care activities according to standards and evaluate outcomes for performance improvement.
• Utilize multidisciplinary teams effectively to achieve patient outcomes.
• Precept students according to specified guidelines.
• Coordinate patient care activities and facilitate communication to maximize outcomes.
• Develop and maintain learning resources for the patient care team as requested.
• Ensure accurate and legible patient documentation through focused chart reviews.
• Provide safe therapeutic care to facilitate desired patient outcomes.
• Recognize trends in patient populations and assist in revising care standards as needed.
• Participate in clinical research and apply current nursing literature to practice.
• Analyze practices contributing to variance and assist in drawing conclusions from aggregate data.
• Assist in developing and revising standards for patient populations using best practices.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing
• BLS Certification
• Current LA state RN license from LSBN
• Current LA Advanced Practice license from LSBN
• Certification in an Advanced Practice role by a recognized national organization (AANP, AACN, AMCB, ANCC, NBCRNA, NCC, or PNCB)
