About the position

The Nurse Residency Program at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is designed for new graduate RNs and experienced nurses entering a training program. The Nurse Resident will provide and supervise direct and indirect nursing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process to achieve departmental goals. This role includes working under the supervision of a preceptor during the training program, with the aim of transitioning to independent practice upon successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and supervise direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) in achieving nursing department goals.
  • Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients within a patient care unit.
  • Manage and supervise related clinical activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a school of nursing or an accredited nursing program (CCNE or ACEN preferred).
  • Must have less than one (1) year of experience or be graduating in the next year.
  • Current Kansas or Compact State RN license (may apply without license but must have it prior to licensure deadline).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves
