About the position

The Nurse Residency Program at AdventHealth Greater Orlando is designed for new nursing graduates to provide comprehensive nursing care under the supervision of experienced preceptors. This program emphasizes the nursing process, patient safety, effective communication, and the development of individualized care plans, ensuring that residents gain the necessary skills and knowledge to transition into independent practice.

Responsibilities

  • Completes timely assessments per Practice Guidelines including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors.
  • Makes appropriate decisions and interventions and nursing diagnosis according to patients' actual or potential health conditions or needs.
  • Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient, assisting in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care.
  • Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluates and modifies the plan of care as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition.
  • Follows strict infection prevention precautions and adheres to medication safety policies.
  • Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors.
  • Completes thorough hand-off communication with the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing
  • Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
