About the position

The Nurse Resident position at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center is designed for new nursing graduates who are looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. This full-time role involves working with the Burn Center team to provide essential patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position emphasizes the importance of patient safety and adherence to established protocols while allowing residents to develop their skills in a real-world healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care tasks such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
• Assist with patient safety issues including the presence of identification arm bands, adherence to patient fall protocols, and use of restraints.
• Perform treatments such as urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation.
• Assist in patient admission by preparing the room, admitting the patient, and preparing for patient discharge.
• Conduct and document basic diagnostic testing including obtaining vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, 12-Lead EKG, telemetry monitoring, pulse oximetry, and Doppler.
• Perform selected sterile procedures including specimen collection, wound care, tracheostomy care and suction, urinary catheterization, and tube feedings.
• Retrieve and transport medications as needed.

Requirements

• Must be a new graduate or eligible to graduate from an accredited Nursing Program with eligibility to take the NCLEX exam.
• Ability to perform basic patient care tasks under supervision.
• Knowledge of patient safety protocols and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
