About the position

The Nurse Resident position at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center is designed for new nursing graduates to provide basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the Med Surg Oncology unit. This role focuses on delivering exceptional care during night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, while adhering to safety protocols and patient care standards. The position offers a supportive environment for recent graduates to develop their skills and gain experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal patient care tasks such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
• Assist with patient safety issues including identification arm band checks, adherence to fall protocols, and use of restraints.
• Conduct treatments such as urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation.
• Assist in patient admission and discharge processes, including room preparation and patient admission.
• Conduct and document basic diagnostic testing including obtaining vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, 12-Lead EKG, telemetry monitoring, and pulse oximetry.
• Perform selected sterile procedures such as specimen collection, wound care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, urinary catheterization, and tube feedings.

Requirements

• Must be a new graduate or eligible to graduate from an accredited Nursing Program with eligibility to take the NCLEX exam.
• Ability to perform basic patient care tasks under supervision.
• Knowledge of patient safety protocols and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
