About the position

The Nurse Resident position at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center is designed for new nursing graduates who are eligible to take the NCLEX exam. This role involves providing basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, specifically within the Surgery team during mid/evening shifts. The Nurse Resident will focus on delivering exceptional care while adhering to safety protocols and patient needs, with opportunities for professional growth and a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal patient care tasks such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
• Assist with patient safety issues including identification arm band checks, adherence to fall protocols, and use of restraints.
• Perform treatments such as urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation.
• Assist in patient admission and discharge processes, including room preparation and patient admission.
• Conduct and document basic diagnostic testing including obtaining vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, 12-Lead EKG, telemetry monitoring, and pulse oximetry.
• Perform selected sterile procedures including specimen collection, wound care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, urinary catheterization, and tube feedings.

Requirements

• Must be a new graduate or eligible to graduate from an accredited Nursing Program with eligibility to take the NCLEX exam.
• Ability to perform basic patient care tasks under supervision.
• Knowledge of patient safety protocols and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
