About the position

The Nurse Supervisor in Developmental Services is responsible for overseeing nursing functions and supervising nurses within the Developmental Services (DDS) programs. This role ensures high-quality care for individuals in group home settings, coordinates care services, and implements the Medication Administration Program (MAP). The Nurse Supervisor acts as a key point of contact for nursing communications and is involved in training, compliance, and quality assurance within the nursing team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and direct supervision to nurses managing health issues.
  • Addresses disciplinary issues and completes annual performance evaluations for DDS nurses.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for DDS communications regarding policies and health care inquiries.
  • Develops and implements training protocols for DDS staff, individuals served, and family members.
  • Monitors funder and state guidance, adjusting protocols and communicating changes to programs.
  • Acts as a resource for individuals and families regarding medical best practices.
  • Monitors completion of clinical assessments and progress notes for compliance with policies.
  • Conducts regular Health Care Management meetings with nursing staff and division leaders.
  • Arranges for necessary training on medical procedures for nursing staff.
  • Reviews intakes and ensures accuracy and approval of recommendations by nurses.
  • Performs MAP transcription classes and develops supplementary training materials.
  • Ensures compliance of MAP systems through audits and monitoring.
  • Provides nursing on-call coverage as part of a regular rotation.
  • Completes quality reviews of nursing documentation and functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Five years' experience in the human services field.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required.
  • Must maintain current licensure and certifications.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for work hours required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
