About the position
The Nurse Technician in Geriatric Behavioral Health provides essential patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role focuses on implementing nursing processes to enhance patient functional status, ensuring adherence to hospital standards and procedures. The position requires a commitment to patient care, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care to an assigned group of patients, utilizing basic skills and knowledge.
- Performs procedural tasks and assists with activities of daily living (ADL), considering patient's age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
- Observes and reports patient's condition, activities, and needs to licensed nurse accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to patient population.
- Correctly performs technical procedures as delegated by the Licensed Nurse.
- Documents data according to unit/hospital policy, including treatments or procedures performed.
- Records intake and output (I & O), vital signs, and other data promptly.
- Supports unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
- Attends mandatory in-services and meets unit educational standards.
- Accurately completes variance reports.
- Modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
- Performs environmental activities to maintain a clean and orderly patient room/unit.
- Completes assigned unit duties and performs housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Transports patients, food, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
- CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire.
- 0 - 6 months of related experience preferred.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Detail-oriented for accurate documentation of numerical data.
